What has changed and what matters now

482 is Skills in Demand

New subclass 482 applications use the SID structure—not the old Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Short-term and Medium-term marketing labels.

The old BIIP intake has closed

Subclass 188 has been closed to new applications since 31 July 2024; subclass 888 may remain available to eligible existing visa holders.

National Innovation is invitation-only

Subclass 858 is for internationally distinguished achievement and requires an invitation; it is not an ordinary investor route.

Four checks before taking action

01

Choose a direction

Distinguish independent, employer and regional models.

02

Check eligibility

Examine occupation, skills, English, sponsorship and stream rules.

03

Build evidence

Create dated, consistent documentation for every claim.

04

Follow the official sequence

EOI, nomination, invitation or visa lodgement as the pathway requires.

Before you decide on a route

A good visa comparison starts with evidence, work and residence conditions, not slogans.
